Our program is divided into 3 phases:

Phase 1: Personal Growth

Become the best version of yourself so you can set yourself up for success. Experience career coaching, mock interviews, resume workshops, and more to equip you with the essential skills necessary for success.

Phase 2: Professional Growth

Complete your professional certification or pre-apprenticeship training to get the practical skills, experience, or qualifications you need for the career you want.

Phase 3: Career Launch

Get connected with jobs that match your needs and dreams. We'll be with you every step of the way, helping you establish professional connections and source career opportunities to get you hired.

What are the qualifications to enroll in the program?

Before you connect with our team to start your Good Works Collective journey, please check that you meet the following requirements:

• 18+ years old

• High-school diploma or GED

• U.S. citizen or “right to work”

• Stable housing

• Ability to read and write English

• Willingness to learn

What will I learn and experience in the program?

• How to create and pursue a career path through skills, interest and personality assessments

• Communication and relationship skills

• How to prepare for an interview

• How to create a professional resume

• How to develop professional skills necessary for promotion

• Gain financial management tools

• Mentor relationship with a volunteer

• Participate in a practice interview day

• Attend a certificate training program

• Access to alumni support network

How much does the course cost?

Good Works Collective tuition is paid by donors and is no cost for the Participants.

Is attendance required? Am I allowed to be late to class?

You will not be allowed to exceed 3 lates or absences combined throughout Personal Development. You are demonstrating to us, yourself and a future employer that you are ready to work a fulltime job and we expect you to treat this program like it is a job. You will be asked to withdraw from the program if the attendance requirement is not met.

When and where do classes meet?

Personal Development class is 6 weeks long Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. It is located at City of Refuge Church at 3150 Yellowstone Blvd, Houston, Texas 77054. Certificate training is through various training partners throughout Houston. For online certificate training programs, you will continue to come to City of Refuge Church 4 days per week, 9:00 AM- 1:00 PM throughout the duration of your certificate training.

If I go through the course, will I be guaranteed a job when I graduate?

No, Good Works Collective is not a placement agency. If you complete all of the program requirements 70% of graduates will land a career job within 6 months of starting the program.

Do you provide money or scholarships for me to go back to school?

You will earn the scholarship to your certificate training through completing the 6 weeks of Personal Development class. We offer a stipend of $50 per week for students in good standing.

Is there an age requirement to attend the class?

You must be 18 years of age.

Does Good Works Collective provide childcare?

No, Good Works Collective does not provide childcare during the program and you children are not allowed to attend class with you. We will have childcare for ages 12 years and under during Tuesday night dinners.
